Our brains start developing at a very young age through gestures they receive, facial expression and recognition and many other all important areas needed for proper brain development
Loneliness is the Killer of old age. People are no longer recognised, no longer receive enthusiastic communication that they need now (and did as babies).
"Loneliness isn't an inevitable part of ageing—it's something we can change."
It did not used to be because the elderly had respect, a vocation, family that depended on them in connection with your community. In Japan elderly and children share a close bond appearance resume a working career and the grandparents are very involved in raising their children their grandchildren.
In blue zones where elderly live longer they seem to stay working a lot longer and keep a sense of purpose. I think purpose is really important.
I think we need to relook at how we age as a society. Retirement homes are exclusive why not have kindergartens kindergarten every retirement home.
How about simply people going back to a shared community living. Family and friends sharing each other's company and having a better life as they age instead of isolating.
Maybe we have more questions than answers but I know something has to happen. In an aging society the status quo is not good enough and we need some new visions, new ideas that represent love support and connection.
Today think about how you would like to age, what you would find fulfilling and ask yourself if things need to change.
